About Summer Spritz

Summer Spritz is a six-round women's criterium series created by Women's Racing Collab to make racing more welcoming, accessible and rewarding for women of all experience levels.

Built by women, for women, the series is designed to remove barriers to racing while creating a fun, supportive and community-driven environment. Whether you're pinning on a number for the very first time or you're an experienced racer chasing results, Summer Spritz provides a place to challenge yourself, build confidence and be part of a growing community.

Unlike a traditional race series where only podium placings matter, Summer Spritz rewards participation, consistency and contribution to the community. Riders accumulate points across the six rounds through race results, showing up, bonus achievements and season-long consistency—meaning every rider, regardless of grade, has a genuine opportunity to compete for the Overall Series General Classification (GC).

The points system is intentionally designed so that every rider has something to race for. Whether you're chasing podiums, returning each week, contesting sprints or simply building confidence on the bike, every effort contributes to the overall standings.

HANDICAPPING/PROMOTION

  • The goal for this series is about recognising those who commit to the series - particularly those who show development and growth throughout the season.

  • Having a rider show up to every race, perform consistently, and grow as an athlete is exactly the kind of outcome we hope for in this series. We don’t believe it is fair to strip points for those being promoted - especially when a high points tally is a result of a full-series commitment and strategic racing.

  • A promotion is typically requested by the a club or selected due to consistently out performing in a grade (in multiple races over the criterium season).

  • If a rider competes at another club outside the Summer Spritz Series in a higher grade, they will be automatically promoted. While we do not encourage swapping grades between clubs, as we like to keep a fair graded race. We understand that riders may want to challenge themselves outside our series, and we love to see that.

  • Clubs ultimately have the final say, however we will continue to collaborate with them to promote an even and fair race.

  • Self promotion is possible. Our stance is that if a rider wants to test themselves in a higher grade, we won’t discourage them - we’ll allow them to try and see how it plays out. However, the club has the final say in this decision. There are no points for self-promotion.

We’re not claiming our points system is perfect, however the above approach is what resonated most with our sponsors: that anyone could win the overall GC prizes, not just those in the highest grade - This was seen in our 2025 season results.
